It was the kind of performance that should have sealed a win. Shohei Ohtani delivered yet another dominant outing on the mound, but it still wasn’t enough. The Los Angeles Dodgers were shut out 3-0 by the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park, as a quiet offense and late bullpen collapse undid all his work.
Ohtani was in control from the start, pitching six scoreless innings, allowing just five hits while striking out seven. He kept the Giants in check and gave the Dodgers every chance to take charge of the game.
But the support never came. Los Angeles failed to generate any meaningful offense, managing no extra-base hits and struggling to string together scoring opportunities. “It’s just one of those things these last couple nights, we haven’t really swung the bats well. We haven’t”, Dave Roberts told The New York Post.
The turning point came soon after Ohtani exited. In the seventh inning, Giants catcher Patrick Bailey broke the deadlock with a three-run home run off reliever Jack Dreyer, swinging the game entirely in San Francisco’s favor.

Adding to the frustration, Ohtani’s night at the plate offered no relief either. He went hitless, ending his 53-game on-base streak, a rare off moment in an otherwise stellar stretch.
Giants starter Tyler Mahle matched the intensity, delivering seven strong innings to outduel Ohtani, while the bullpen closed out the shutout efficiently.
For the Dodgers, the loss continues a worrying trend. The team has now dropped multiple games on this road trip, this being the fourth loss in the last five days, with offensive inconsistency becoming a recurring issue.
Ohtani did his part, and more. But without run support, even a near-flawless outing couldn’t change the result. For the Dodgers, it’s a familiar and frustrating story: dominance on the mound, silence at the plate, and another game that slipped away.
