Even for elite athletes, some moments on tour are unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. Charley Hull recently opened up about one of her most awkward memories on the LPGA Tour; a wardrobe malfunction that happened in the middle of a tournament and, even worse, on live television.

The English golfer, now one of the biggest names in women’s golf, admitted the incident left her completely mortified at the time. Looking back, though, she was able to laugh at a moment that once felt like a nightmare.

Speaking on the Vanity Index Podcast, Hull recalled the embarrassing incident from the 2015 Canadian Pacific Women’s Open. At the time, she was still early in her professional career and dealing with a lifestyle that, by her own admission, was far less disciplined than it is today.

Hull explained that poor eating habits and drinking had caused her to gain some weight, leaving her tournament trousers much tighter than usual. That became a serious problem while she was out on the course.

I was on the 15th hole and my button popped off my trousers and my zip came down,” she recalled. Her immediate reaction was panic: “Oh no, this is on live TV.

With cameras rolling and no easy way to fix the issue, Hull said she felt completely humiliated. A cameraman eventually had to radio for a safety pin so she could continue the round without further disaster. It was a small fix, but in that moment, it felt like a lifesaver.

Despite the awkward distraction, Hull still managed to finish tied for seventh at the tournament, proving that even embarrassment couldn’t completely throw her off her game. It remains one of the more unusual stories from her early LPGA years.

Now 30, Hull is in a very different place both physically and professionally. She describes herself as a “fitness freak” and has become one of the most recognizable faces in women’s golf. Ranked among the world’s best players, she has built a reputation not only for her aggressive game but also for her honesty and personality off the course.

The story also reflects how much her life has changed. What was once an embarrassing moment during her younger years is now something she can share openly, and even laugh about, with fans.

For Charley Hull, the wardrobe malfunction was a reminder that live sport can be unpredictable in more ways than one. While trophies and rankings define careers, sometimes it’s the awkward, human moments that people remember most. And for Hull, that live TV mishap remains one of those unforgettable stories.
